Magic: The Gathering's Monster Hunter Collaboration Faces Delay

Wizards of the Coast delays its upcoming Magic: The Gathering and Monster Hunter collaboration following negative feedback.

Recently, Magic: The Gathering announced a collaboration with Monster Hunter. However, the reveal received substantial backlash from fans. In response, Wizards of the Coast has decided to delay the release of the Secret Lair set, originally planned for launch in 2026. This decision came after the company acknowledged that the initial set ‘fell short of expectations.’

“We care a lot about the worlds we get to celebrate, and Secret Lair x Monster Hunter didn’t quite come together the way it should have. We hear you, so we’re heading back to the drawing board to rework this Superdrop. More to come.”

This delay may provide some solace to fans who were disappointed by the initial reveal. One comment from a Reddit user reflected the sentiment:

“At least they’re listening but what possessed them to release that in the first place?”

This collaboration is part of Wizards of the Coast’s strategy to integrate different franchises into its card game, but many fans were dissatisfied with the choices made for the initial drop, which they felt lacked creativity and value.
