Unearthed Fallout: New Vegas Beta Reveals Abandoned Content

A recently discovered beta version of Fallout: New Vegas, housed in an old Xbox 360 development kit, uncovers numerous features and characters that were ultimately removed before the game's official release.

Recently, a new YouTube channel named Games’ Past kicked off by revealing a remarkable find: an early beta build of Fallout: New Vegas. Stored for years in second-hand Xbox 360 development kits, this version is notably larger than the final product by two gigabytes, packed with cut or altered features from what was eventually released in 2010.

Among the discovered content is a character named Marilyn, a potential girlfriend for Mr. House, who appears in expanded dialogue form in this build. Players can even engage in conversations with her, unlike in the official release. Additionally, an earlier version of Mr. House shows a distinct appearance and a wealth of cut dialogue, hinting at more complex interactions that might have been possible, especially with female characters high in charisma.

This beta has brought excitement among the New Vegas modding community due to the included PDB files, which offer opportunities for reverse-engineering, amplifying discovery and restoration efforts of the previously cut features.
