The Crew Unlimited Avoids Another Shutdown with a Major Update

The latest patch for The Crew Unlimited addresses a critical glitch, reminiscent of the Y2K bug, that could have impacted gameplay in the future.

The recent patch for The Crew Unlimited fixes what has been termed the game’s equivalent of the Y2K bug. In a blog post, crew curator whammy4 revealed significant details about this pivotal update, stating it addresses a situation where setting a PC’s date beyond June 2029 could result in the game ceasing to function. While this might not seem immediately urgent, the potential for future complications is real as we approach that date.

In essence, the developers have implemented a workaround that prevents The Crew from encountering what they have referred to as a “Y29K” bug, alluding humorously to the famous Millennium Bug. The team expressed concern regarding the game’s longevity and took proactive measures to ensure it remains operational.

Additionally, this patch resolves other gameplay issues, including how police cars are treated and improves game mechanics regarding reward pickups for starter kits.
