Arc Raiders Developers Address Matchmaking Concerns for Players
The developers of Arc Raiders communicate their commitment to fair matchmaking between solo and squad players, calming fears regarding gear score-based matchmaking.
In a recent announcement, the Arc Raiders team has sought to alleviate community concerns surrounding matchmaking in their game. Players had expressed fears about a potential gear score-based system impacting the fairness of matches.
Ossen, a representative from Embark Studios, stated:
“We noticed some discussions around loot or ‘gear score’ matchmaking. While it is true that the team has previously evaluated loot/gear-based as well as other types of matchmaking principles, right now the focus is on maintaining the split between solos and squads to keep those groups on an even playing field whenever possible.”
This assurance came in response to discussions rife in the game’s Discord, where players voiced strong opinions against what they perceived as unfair matchmaking practices. One concerned player mentioned:
“Probably won’t buy if gear-based MM is implemented. Does anybody else feel the same way? Completely kills the excitement.”
To clarify the developers’ stance, Ossen elaborated, emphasizing the current prioritization of balancing play between solo and squad players rather than implementing a gear score system. Despite taking a firm stance now, Ossen indicated that developers would continue to observe player experiences and remain open to adjusting matchmaking as necessary after the game’s launch. They expressed a commitment to ensuring a high-quality and engaging player experience, regardless of future adjustments.
