Amazon's New World Ceases Updates After Mass Layoffs, Servers to Remain Operational Until 2026

Amazon Games has announced that it will no longer provide new content updates for its MMO, New World, following significant layoffs.

Amazon Games announced today that it will halt content updates for its well-known MMO, New World, reflecting its strategic shift following significant layoffs. The game will remain operational, with servers live until 2026, but players should expect no new content.

According to the official update, “After four years of consistent updates and a major console launch, it has become unsustainable to continue supporting the game with new content.”

The latest Season 10 and Nighthaven update is set to be the final content release for New World. As a token of appreciation for the community’s support, the most recent updates will be made available for free to all players.

While New World will continue with maintenance and some seasonal events, the announcement makes it clear that the current support is limited. Amazon plans to keep servers running smoothly until a planned transition later in 2026.
