Marvel Rivals has seen a drastic rise in players following its Halloween update, introducing a new PvE mode that many players had been eagerly anticipating. This update coincides with the launch of Season 4 and the introduction of characters such as Daredevil and Angela. The game’s latest limited-time event has successfully captured the attention of gamers.
After experiencing an 86% decline in its player base by August, following a strong launch window late in 2024, Marvel Rivals faced serious challenges due to performance issues and dissatisfaction with matchmaking changes made by developer NetEase. However, the new PvE gameplay in the Halloween update appears to have revitalized the community, with player numbers reportedly soaring past 120,000. Feedback on social media has been overwhelmingly positive regarding the new Zombies mode.
While the Zombies mode seems popular, it may not remain permanent, as its current availability is set to conclude on November 13. In addition, players can earn rewards by participating in missions within this update, including a free Blade Knight costume.
NetEase seems committed to enhancing player satisfaction and is also working on expanding features like cross-progression, which is currently in limited availability for select players who signed up for Early Access. A full rollout to all players is anticipated with the arrival of Season 5.
