ElvUI Addon Pauses Development as World of Warcraft: Midnight Approaches

The popular ElvUI addon for World of Warcraft has announced it will halt support following the launch of the Midnight expansion due to significant API changes.

The popular World of Warcraft addon ElvUI will halt support once the Midnight expansion launches. This decision was revealed during the ongoing alpha test for World of Warcraft: Midnight, as the new expansion limits API access, affecting how many addons function in the game.

Throughout its two-decade history, World of Warcraft has utilized addons to enhance player experience, making them essential for participating in high-level content such as Mythic+ dungeons and raids. Notable addons like WeakAuras and Deadly Boss Mods have exemplified this need. However, with the upcoming changes in the Midnight expansion, addons will face significant limitations.

Despite its discontinuation for Midnight, ElvUI will still operate within The War Within and Mists of Pandaria Classic in its current form. Addon developer Luckyone stated on Twitter that the development of ElvUI would resume only if Blizzard alters its API limitations.

In addition to the addon changes, World of Warcraft: Midnight will introduce substantial class balance adjustments. The community is awaiting Blizzard’s response to the decision of ElvUI to pause support.
