Developer Treyarch Studios along with publisher Activision have officially revealed that Nuketown, a classic map in the series, will be reintroduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 starting November 20. The game is set to launch on November 14 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, so players won’t have to wait too long to relive the thrills of one of the franchise’s favorite maps.
Earlier in the month, players experienced hands-on gameplay through an open beta across all platforms. Initial impressions were positive, although several recurring concerns remained, particularly about skill-based matchmaking and persistent lobbies. Players have lobbied for changes in these areas for over five years. Treyarch surprised the community by announcing that the traditional matchmaking system would be returning for this new installment, discontinuing the practice of disbanding lobbies.
Nuketown’s Return on November 20
Treyarch had hinted at the comeback of Nuketown in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 this month, promising its availability shortly after the game’s launch. Along with a preview of the Season 1 roadmap, it was confirmed that Nuketown 2025, a remaster from the popular Black Ops 2, will be introduced a week after the game release.
Treyarch has also previewed the first season of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, although a release date for this major update remains unknown. It is expected to include several new and returning maps, including fan favorites such as Standoff and Meltdown as well as new creations: Fate, Utopia, Odysseus, and Yakei. Seven new weapons will also be part of Season 1.
