Issues Impacting Amazon Web Services Users
Numerous users report difficulties accessing various services reliant on Amazon Web Services, indicating a widespread outage.
Users have been experiencing difficulties accessing various Amazon Web Services (AWS), including the Amazon website itself. AWS, a subsidiary of Amazon, is crucial for numerous online services by providing cloud computing and technology solutions. This outage affects a multitude of services that rely on AWS infrastructure, such as game servers and smart device functionalities.
Since its establishment in 2002, AWS has developed into the largest cloud computing platform globally, often working quietly in the background to support much of the modern internet. However, unexpected disruptions can have a cascading impact on services that depend on it.
Starting around 12 AM PST on October 20, customers reported their experiences on the Amazon site were disrupted, affecting the visibility of their orders and the ability to check out. Services linked to AWS, including Alexa, Snapchat, and popular games like Fortnite and Roblox, also reported issues. As of this writing, AWS has recorded one fully down service and more than 30 others affected in the US-EAST-1 data center. Engineers are actively working to diagnose and rectify the situation.
