This minimalist platformer's mouseclick parkour is curing my 2D platformer fears

A unique and engaging platformer that shifts the controls to mouse clicks, making 2D movement enjoyable.

An Exciting Shift in Platforming

Jumping and running in 2D isn’t usually my strong suit, particularly after my recent attempt at Silksong—it was a painful experience. I often find myself overwhelmed by the requirement to operate in a side-scrolling environment, where my instincts to navigate through three-dimensional spaces betray me.

However, this has changed with the introduction of This Is No Cave, a minimalist sci-fi platformer. In this game, you take on the role of a charming astronaut clad in yellow who utilizes his boot thrusters and grappling hook to maneuver through intricate underground tunnels.

The controls are astonishingly simple: left click activates your jumps and thrusts, while right click engages the grappling hook. This dual-action setup removes the pressure of complex movements and allows for fluid gameplay, even as the platforming becomes increasingly nuanced.

As I glide and swing through the game, I experience a level of fluidity that I often struggle to attain in other platformers. There are features aimed at accessibility, such as adjustable thruster charges and game speed, which cater to various skill levels and preferences. Best of all, This Is No Cave is currently available at a promotional price on Steam for just $5, making it an attractive option for gamers looking to indulge in an innovative platforming experience.
