Delay in Release of Upcoming Mongolian Horse Game Following Positive Feedback

The developers of the anticipated game based on 13th-century Mongolia, "The Legend of Khiimori", have postponed its early access release, extending the wait for eager players.

The Legend of Khiimori is now set to hit early access in March 2026.

Background

The anticipated game, which has been dubbed the 13th-century Mongolian horse game, was initially meant to launch soon following a successful demonstration at the recent Steam Next Fest. However, due to an overwhelmingly positive response, the developers have chosen to extend the timeline to enhance game features and content before its release.

Developer Statement

The development team stated, “The wonderful reception during Steam Next Fest has led us to take more time to create a more feature and content-rich experience! While this does mean that you all have to wait a little longer to get your hands on Khiimori, it ensures that we can deliver a better game when we eventually release into Early Access.”

Demo Availability

Contrary to fears that the delay signals a negative reception, the team confirmed they are keeping the demo available on Steam until November 30, allowing more players to experience it before the game launches.

Response

The positive metrics back up this decision, as the game gained over 1,700 new wishlist additions during the event, solidifying its position within the top 50 wishlisted games on Steam.

Conclusion

Ultimately, ‘The Legend of Khiimori’ centers on a horseback courier in 13th-century Mongolia, emphasizing the delivery of mail and completing various missions while managing the care of a highly detailed horse.

“While many think the delay might indicate trouble, it appears that’s not the case, and excitement continues to build around the title.”
