Rumor: Call of Duty Black Ops 7 May Have an Earlier Release Date

Rumors suggest that Activision may be considering moving up the release date for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 to a week earlier than originally planned.

A credible insider has reported that Activision, the creator behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, might shift the game’s launch date to a week earlier than planned. Currently, the game is set for release on November 14, which would make it the latest main entry in the history of the franchise. However, recent chatter indicates that Activision is considering an earlier roll-out for the title.

Fans had the opportunity to experience Black Ops 7 during its open beta weekend earlier this month, providing feedback on the game’s gameplay mechanics, weapons, maps, and modes. Initially, there were doubts regarding whether the upcoming installment would merely serve as a DLC for Black Ops 6, but developer Treyarch Studios has since revealed significant modifications that could redefine the franchise’s future, including returning to a traditional matchmaking system and eliminating controversial gameplay features.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 May Release a Week Early

As it stands, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for launch on November 14. The shooter will be available on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, though it appears there won’t be early access for its campaign this time around. Rumors persist about a potential new release date from industry insider and reputable Call of Duty informant TheGhostOfHope, who suggests there is “evidence” supporting a possible date change to November 7.

If confirmed, this would mark a historical first for a Call of Duty mainline title adjusting its release after its official announcement, although the change is modest. In 2018, during the unveiling of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, fans were surprised by the October 12 release date—reportedly an adjustment made to avoid the launch proximity to Red Dead Redemption 2.

Should Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 change its date, Activision may opt to keep the reasoning behind the decision under wraps, though some speculate it could be in response to the outstanding success of Battlefield 6, which launched recently and is setting remarkable records in the gaming industry.
