Surviving Mars: Relaunched Set to Launch Next Month with New Political Features

The upcoming release of Surviving Mars: Relaunched promises significant enhancements, including a brand new political framework and complete DLC integration.

Reviving Mars

When news broke that Surviving Mars is receiving a remaster, my initial reaction was, “Isn’t it a bit too early?” It seems like just yesterday that the game launched, but it’s been seven years!

Surviving Mars: Relaunched goes beyond a simple graphical upgrade. It will improve game technology and refresh the user interface, but notably, it also introduces a groundbreaking political system.

Developer Haemimont Games detailed this new feature in a recent Steam post. Interestingly, political activities begin on Earth, where a council votes on laws that influence your colony. For instance, there could be deliberation on whether to relax rocket speed regulations, which would expedite resource delivery to Mars but could pose new risks.

As your colony expands, you’ll establish a Martian Assembly to take the reins of government, transitioning from Earth-based decision-making to local autonomy. Choices about governance will determine how factions evolve, potentially allowing different political ideologies including democracy, theocracy, or even an anarchist commune. Your ultimate aim? Achieving complete independence for Mars from Earth and its initial sponsors.

The Relaunched version will also come bundled with every DLC, adding features like terraforming and animal farming. Moreover, future updates are set to enhance food production systems and even enable robots to populate the Martian landscape, simulating real-life ambitions.
