The free addition to Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun—Words of Vengeance—originally launched as a marketing initiative timed with the announcement of the sequel, is proving popular among fans. It has managed to achieve a ‘Very Positive’ rating on Steam with over 1,700 reviews.
Previously, players used traditional shooter mechanics in shooting enemies, but this spinoff incorporates typing as the primary action, similar to The Typing of the Dead.
While it has been called entertaining, some players have expressed a desire for more content. The developer Auroch Digital has addressed this feedback, recently releasing an update that effectively doubles the game’s size by introducing three new levels: Canyon Magrails, The Deep Vault, and one level adapted from the original Boltgun. Plus, they’ve added over 400 new phrases to enhance the typing experience and minimize repetition.
This update aims to keep the community engaged until the sequel is out next year. Boltgun 2 is expected to be a direct follow-up to the first game with new weapons, enemies, and imaginative locations. Despite being straightforward, it promises to expand on what fans loved in the original game, leading to a hopeful anticipation.
