Electronic Arts needed Battlefield 6 to succeed, and it certainly has. Within the first three days of its release, the game shattered records with over seven million copies sold, earning the title of the most successful launch in the history of the franchise.
In addition to impressive sales, the opening weekend saw more than 172 million matches played online and over 15 million hours of gameplay watched on streaming platforms. This makes it the biggest launch in franchise history, according to EA, who reported even Vince Zampella, the Battlefield executive, has turned his frustrations into smiles following technical difficulties experienced at launch.
Zampella expressed gratitude to the global Battlefield community, stating, “We never take moments like this for granted. We appreciate you joining us for Battlefield 6’s momentous launch, and there is still much more to come!”
Byron Beede also thanked the community, emphasizing their impact on the game’s development: “From the initial concept through to the open beta, player feedback has been integral to our success. Together, we aimed to create the best Battlefield game ever.”
The first season of new content is scheduled to begin on October 28, and with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 set to release shortly afterward on November 14, it will be intriguing to see how Battlefield 6 maintains its momentum in the competitive FPS market.
