Pokemon TCG Pocket May Have Found a Solution to Ongoing Leak Issues

Developers of Pokemon TCG Pocket implement changes to minimize leaks and protect the game's reputation.

Pokemon TCG Pocket May Have Found a Solution to Ongoing Leak Issues

Pokemon TCG Pocket seems to have discovered an effective method to combat leaks and data miners, which could prevent further issues in the future. Over the past year, DeNA’s Pokemon TCG Pocket has experienced numerous significant leaks, primarily due to security flaws in the app.

Before the launch of the A4 set, for example, leaked information suggested a theme related to Pokemon Gold and Silver. This prediction was confirmed when the expansion was officially announced, showcasing Lugia and Ho-Oh as the primary cards. The A4 set wasn’t the only leak, prompting DeNA to adopt preventive measures.

Future Leak Reduction for Pokemon TCG Pocket

Revealed by one of the leading leakers, known as CRanAYo, DeNA has adjusted the “news leak paths,” which may lead to a significant reduction in spoilers moving forward. It remains uncertain if leakers and data miners like CRanAYo will continue to uncover details about unreleased Pokemon TCG Pocket content. Nevertheless, the news of this new strategy has been well received among the community, with many expressing their annoyance at previous leaks, which they believe have diminished the game’s surprise elements.

The primary concern, as some have pointed out, is that most leaks from Pokemon TCG Pocket’s expansions have originated from official sources. Fans believe DeNA should also prioritize better synchronization between the game’s social media and press teams, as many significant leaks have occurred when an official account prematurely released a video, image, or advertisement. A recent instance is the October leak for Pokemon TCG Pocket, which unveiled the name of an upcoming expansion and some details. This information was allegedly released through images shared on the game’s official website rather than through data mining. Earlier, another official source mistakenly released the complete teaser trailer for September’s Deluxe Pack EX set ahead of schedule, exposing many of its featured Pokemon.

It remains to be seen if DeNA’s recent adjustments will genuinely stop future leaks in Pokemon TCG Pocket, but it is evident that they recognize the issue and are eager to take action. The urgency is likely heightened by Pokemon TCG Pocket’s declining revenue and player count, which many consider a critical issue. The new and stricter measures to counter leaks appear to be part of a more extensive plan to safeguard the digital trading card game’s reputation. Fans understand that the game significantly relies on excitement for upcoming sets, and leaks can quickly undermine that anticipation.
