Fans of Xbox Game Pass will have to wait longer for Witchbrook, an upcoming game from Chucklefish that blends the charm of a Stardew Valley-like life simulator with the excitement of attending a magical school. Although it remains expected as a day-one launch for Xbox Game Pass, players can now expect a release pushed back to 2026.
Following previous participation by Chucklefish in publishing Stardew Valley, Witchbrook was initially revealed in 2018 as a potential non-farming life simulator. Chucklefish has gained acclaim as a publisher but also has development credits, including experiences from Wargroove and its 2023 sequel.
A newly published developer log indicates that Witchbrook has shifted from its initial winter 2025 release window to a tentative date in 2026. This extension is intended to enhance game features, expand platform accessibility, and increase language support. Chucklefish is keen to allow time for a comprehensive rollout across platforms including Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, and PC.
In more recent updates, Chucklefish introduced elements of Witchbrook’s world, which will showcase areas beyond the magical school, such as forests, beaches, and rural settings. The developers have revealed details about Mossport, a farmland-inspired area that will feature agricultural elements alongside quest and story developments. This delay arrives amidst significant price changes affecting Xbox Game Pass, generating dissatisfaction and leading to cancellations from users.
