New Pirate Loot Unveiled for World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm

Blizzard announces exciting rewards for the return of the Plunderstorm mode in World of Warcraft, featuring pirate-themed items.

Summary

  • Plunderstorm mode in WoW returns with new rewards.
  • Rewards include pirate-themed mounts, pets, and cosmetic ensembles.
  • Players can earn Coward’s Azure Target back piece from Twitch Drops.

Just ahead of the Plunderstorm game mode’s comeback to World of Warcraft, Blizzard has revealed a collection of pirate-themed loot players can earn, which will include pets, mounts, and aesthetic items. The fresh rewards will be featured in the Plunderstore, a new feature replacing the former Renown track, offering Plunderstorm players a broader range of options for claiming their rewards.

Originally launched during Patch 10.2.6 of the Dragonflight expansion, Plunderstorm is a battle royale PVP game mode in the current World of Warcraft client, accommodating up to 60 competitors in the Arathi Basin. Modeled after games like Fortnite, it allows players to queue up solo or in pairs to collect plunder while utilizing spells drawn from World of Warcraft’s 13 character classes to eliminate their rivals. Despite its initial limited-time run lasting over a month and receiving positive feedback from players seeking variety, Blizzard was urged to revive Plunderstorm following its conclusion.

New Rewards Announcement

Alongside Plunderstorm’s revival, Blizzard will also roll out a Twitch Drops reward that players can obtain by linking their Twitch and Battle.net accounts. After watching four hours of any participating World of Warcraft streams, players will see the Coward’s Azure Target appear in their transmog collections as a back accessory. The Twitch Drops event is scheduled from January 14 to February 4, providing players with three weeks to secure this cosmetic item.

World of Warcraft will reintroduce Plunderstorm from January 14 to February 18. Whether this action-packed battle royale mode will continue as an annual feature depends on player and Blizzard feedback.
