Battlefield 6 Developer Hints at Enhanced Map Selection Update
A developer for Battlefield 6 has hinted at a forthcoming update designed to improve the map selection process for players in the game's Portal mode.
Developers at DICE are considering a significant update for Battlefield 6, particularly focusing on enhancing the Portal matchmaking system to allow players to select their preferred maps.
Upon the game’s recent launch, which has been heralded as a major success in 2025, having reached a peak player count of 740,000 on Steam alone, developers have received feedback calling for improvements to the matchmaking experience.
Potential Update Details
A suggestion by Producer Alexia Christofi arose during a discussion on Twitter, where she floated the idea of introducing a “wait to get what I want” option. This feature would enable players to opt out of being matched to random maps and instead wait for their preferred choices, potentially increasing player satisfaction.
Moreover, both Christofi and Lead Producer David Sirland confirmed that the implementation of a dedicated server browser is also in discussion, allowing players to select specific game modes or maps.
As the game continues to exceed sales expectations—earning over $100 million within a day of its release—these improvements could further cement Battlefield 6’s position as a top-tier multiplayer experience.
