A potential DLC for the 2024 remake of Silent Hill 2 that had been hinted at earlier this year may not materialize any time soon, according to a voice actor crucial to its development. Many fans have been waiting for the Born From a Wish side story to be integrated into Silent Hill 2 for several months, only to possibly face disappointing news.
In June, reputable leaker Dusk Golem reported that Konami and Bloober Team were planning to release it, with an announcement expected shortly. However, voice actress Salóme Gunnarsdóttir, who voices Maria, recently expressed during a Twitch stream that she has no knowledge of any ongoing DLC project. Gunnarsdóttir was asked about the status of the Born From a Wish story by fans during her first gameplay, ultimately apologizing and noting she has not recorded new dialogue for any DLC.
If her comments are accurate, it seems unlikely the DLC is in the works or nearing completion. In the original game, Born From a Wish is a brief storyline centered on Maria and culminates when she encounters the main character, James Sunderland. Though not initially released as DLC, it became part of special editions following the game’s Xbox port in December 2021.
It’s also feasible that Gunnarsdóttir was instructed to withhold information until Bloober Team and Konami are prepared for a formal announcement. Industry rumors can often be problematic; if the DLC is currently in development, the team’s leaders may have set specific guidelines regarding what information can be shared.
