Tired of the long dialogues in Borderlands 4? Want to jump straight into action? A brave modder has developed a dialogue-skip mod. However, according to Gearbox’s creative director Graeme Timmins, using such mods might be risky.

Timmins advised against the use of dialogue skipping mods, saying, “skipping dialog could lead to broken mission states that might not be recoverable.” He explained that the intricate way dialogue is embedded in the mission structure means that skipping it could leave players stuck in missions.

Timmins’ cautionary notes came as a surprise to those who expect this feature to work seamlessly like in other games. He concluded ominously, “Don’t ask me how I know.”

Whether this works as an effective reminder to players about the importance of full dialogue remains to be seen.
