Upcoming Indie Title Takes Cues from Resident Evil Village

An upcoming horror FPS, titled Bleak Haven, draws significant inspiration from Resident Evil Village, bringing a chilling atmosphere and engaging mechanics.

Bleak Haven is an upcoming horror FPS for Steam with substantial elements resembling Resident Evil Village. This indie title is building a reputation for its atmospheric gameplay that echoes the successful survival horror formula established by Capcom’s 2021 release.

The game follows a young man's quest through a dark, isolated village to find his missing brother. Players will engage in battles with supernatural entities reminiscent of those in Resident Evil Village. Crafting and resource management are vital, drawing parallels to the skills shown by Ethan Winters in the eighth installment of the series. Developed by Hitori De Productions, Bleak Haven is set to launch on October 27, with a free demo currently available.

Additionally, combat in Bleak Haven promotes strategic weapon usage, necessitating players to switch between combat styles. The developers have emphasized that firearms will be scarce, leading to more hand-to-hand confrontations, including "finishers" to eliminate weakened foes in visually striking ways. For those who enjoyed the puzzles in Resident Evil Village, Bleak Haven will also integrate puzzle-solving within its exploration mechanics.

It's worth noting that Bleak Haven is a product of a small development team, and while it may not fully replicate the AAA experience of a title like Resident Evil Village, it undeniably channels a compelling atmosphere and engaging gameplay that should attract the attention of horror game enthusiasts.
