This week marked the arrival of the first season pass for Skate, which has left many players dissatisfied. Feedback on platforms like the Skate subreddit reflects their displeasure, as the update introduces numerous microtransactions alongside minimal new gameplay content.
The most criticized feature is the Isaac Clarke bundle, allowing players to navigate the world of San Vansterdam as a cardboard version of the iconic Dead Space protagonist for approximately $35 USD (3350 San Van Bucks).

Players have noticed that the same skin was previously available for free in Skate 3, merely requiring a simple cheat code to unlock—essentially making it feel like a cash grab this time around. The bundle also comes with limited-time offerings, stickers, and emotes, further aggravating the community’s frustration.
While testing the game myself, I encountered several crashes lasting over 40 minutes before I could reach the in-game store. Complaints about performance issues have been widespread, with many players experiencing similar problems due to the new monetization methods.
Improving the gaming experience while generating revenue is a delicate task, and many feel that the need to monetize should not disrupt the game’s functionality.
