On October 8, Nintendo Switch Online rolled out three new SNES games, prominently featuring the official launch of Mario and Wario, making its global debut outside Japan. Additionally, users can access Fatal Fury Special and Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind, the inaugural title in the Bubsy series.
Every few weeks, Nintendo introduces fresh titles on apps designed for consoles such as the NES, SNES, and Game Boy, exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Presently, the SNES: Nintendo Classics app includes 77 games, just two shy of the 79 offerings in the NES app. The last update to the SNES app occurred in July 2025, featuring the beloved title Mario Paint, which was the first Switch Online game to implement mouse controls.
Nintendo Switch Online Releases Three New SNES Games
- Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind
- Fatal Fury Special
- Mario and Wario
Following a brief update for the SNES: Nintendo Classics app, Switch Online members can now enjoy an additional three games. The update on October 8 is anchored by the arrival of Mario and Wario, a 2D puzzle game originally launched in Japan in 1993. In this game, Mario faces off against Wario, who places a cracked Yoshi eggshell on Mario’s head, obstructing his vision. Players command a fairy who can add or remove an array of objects and barriers, guiding Mario towards Luigi.
The gameplay of Mario and Wario requires mouse controls, which can be achieved using Switch 2 Joy-Con controllers in mouse mode or by connecting a USB mouse. Additionally, the October 8 update introduces two third-party titles: Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind and Fatal Fury Special. Fatal Fury Special is an enhanced iteration of Fatal Fury 2, which debuted on the SNES: Nintendo Classics app back in January 2025. As Nintendo continues to expand the library available for Switch Online members, it remains to be seen what future developments are in store.
