George Stobbart’s next escapade will arrive early next year, revitalizing the beloved Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror with a fresh 4K remaster, sans any artificial intelligence involvement. Revolution Software’s founder, Charles Cecil, emphasized that the studio chose to stick with traditional artistic methods instead of relying on AI, stating, > “I got into a bit of trouble talking about AI last time, but AI didn’t really help us very much at all.”
With a commitment to preserving the essence of the original game while enhancing its graphics for contemporary gamers, Broken Sword 2 is gearing up for an exciting launch. This remaster not only promises visual upgrades but also the return of the story mode from the first title, which offers players helpful hints without giving away full solutions.
Cecil believes that working with hand-drawn art is critical for capturing the nuances of human emotion and creativity that AI cannot replicate, thereby ensuring that the remaster resonates with both long-time fans and newcomers alike.
The studio also plans to introduce a physical collector’s edition, aiming to launch it soon via Kickstarter, making this remaster not only a visual treat but also a special collectible for fans.
