In one of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s late-game encounters, a remarkable glitch allows players to defeat a notoriously difficult boss simply by dealing damage in a specific way. YouTuber Kilroy Was Here showcased this technique to easily overcome Lace without the usual hassle.
Spoilers below for the second-to-last boss of act 2.
Kilroy utilized what he calls an “upslash AI break”. It involves repeatedly hitting upward with Hornet’s needle until the boss is incapacitated. This glitch allows Lace to remain stationary, making the fight considerably simpler. Players are advised to maintain a close position to prevent taking damage but can quickly reposition as Lace gets knocked back.
Kilroy achieved a stunning victory, defeating Lace in only 35 seconds, which at the time of posting was faster than the record speedrun for that boss fight. This technique could redefine speedrunning in Silksong, potentially leaving the developer Team Cherry to intervene with a patch to fix this exploit.
