The development team behind Fallout 76 has delivered disappointing news for fans eagerly anticipating crossplay capabilities in the game. During a recent discussion, Creative Director John Rush and Production Director Bill Lacoste addressed the community’s hopes just as the game approaches its Burning Springs update.
In the roundtable, the pair asserted that there are no current plans to add crossplay or cross-save features. They argue that the introduction of such capabilities at this stage, nearly seven years after the game’s initial release, would present a significant technical challenge. Lacoste noted, “Introducing a significant feature like this would be a huge technical hurdle.”
Despite the lack of crossplay, players can still look forward to new content coming with the impending update, which will feature fresh quests and areas to explore. This ongoing expansion of the game aims to keep current players engaged, although the developers indicated that while discussions about crossplay occur, no commitment has been made, framing it as neither a firm rejection nor approval.
