GameStop Defies Xbox Game Pass Price Increase, Maintains Previous Subscription Rate

In the wake of Microsoft's recent price hike for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, GameStop has promised to continue offering the service at its original price.

After Microsoft announced a significant price increase for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions, GameStop swiftly assured its customers that it would continue to offer subscriptions for the old price of $19.99/month. This response aims to address the growing frustrations among gamers.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), GameStop declared:

“We will continue to sell Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for $19.99/month in-store and online.”

GameStop’s pricing commitment arrives following a backlash against the Xbox Game Pass price hikes, which saw the Ultimate plan rise to $29.99/month. This strategy could provide relief to gamers concerned about justifying the new costs, especially when considering recent new game prices are topping $70.

With Microsoft rumored to be exploring alternative subscription models, including a free, ad-supported version of Xbox Cloud Gaming, it remains to be seen how this situation develops.
