Steam Users Transition to Windows 11 as Deadline for Windows 10 Approaches
A growing number of Steam players have switched to Windows 11 in anticipation of the end of support for Windows 10, which is less than two weeks away.
Increased Transition to Windows 11
As Windows 10’s end of support deadline approaches in under two weeks, a noticeable shift has been seen among Steam users toward Windows 11. With the imminent shutdown of Windows 10, many users are evidently ready to embrace the latest operating system.
According to the recent Steam Hardware Survey, the proportion of users on Windows 11 has surged by 2.65%, bringing its total share to 63.04% this month, a jump from 60.39% last month. Conversely, Windows 10’s percentage has decreased by 2.9%. This discrepancy suggests that some users may be migrating to other operating systems, particularly Linux, but the latter has only increased by a slight 0.04%.
Notably, the survey methodology is less than perfect and should be interpreted with caution. The results provide a general sense of trends rather than precise data. As the potential shutdown of Windows 10 looms, many users might find themselves pressing forward to adopt Windows 11.
For those reluctant to upgrade, Windows 10 does offer the chance to extend its viability by opting for security updates, although this may not be a long-term solution. With newer games requiring more stringent security measures, such as Secure Boot, hesitance to transition to Windows 11 could soon prove problematic in ensuring system compatibility with modern software.
