Asus to Launch RTX 5080 Inspired by Beloved Vocaloid Star in the US with a High Price Tag

Asus announces a limited edition RTX 5080 clearly designed for fans of the Vocaloid icon, Hatsune Miku, but at a steep cost.

I’m a huge fan of all things Miku Hatsune. From the many Miku figurines decorating my desk to the rhythm games that challenge my skills, there’s something undeniably joyful about this virtual idol. However, the thought of a themed RTX 5080 costing nearly $2,000 does not inspire the same joy.

As previously reported, the Asus x Hatsune Miku collaboration has introduced themed items like monitors and motherboards, but now it includes the high-end Hatsune Miku edition of the ROG Astral Geforce RTX 5080 O16G, which is set to have a price tag of $1,900. This marks a 90% markup over the standard RTX 5080 model.

“I love the Vocaloid diva but this is a hefty price tag for a casual fan.”

Despite the awe-inspiring design which features shades of teal, pink, and black along with impressive specs such as dual BIOS modes for performance and quiet operation, it remains a luxury item aimed at collectors rather than the typical performance gamer. The four-fan layout enhances vertical airflow but the cost seems unattainable for many.

In all likelihood, I will stick to purchasing more Miku figurines rather than investing in this high-priced hardware.
