Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s recent announcement regarding Yakuza Kiwami 3 included the revelation of a bonus Gaiden game called Dark Ties, featuring the antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. Surprisingly, the studio initially planned to include Dark Ties as a mere video on the game disc rather than as a playable experience.
馃幃 Development Background
The director of Kiwami 3 and Dark Ties, Ryosuke Horii, shared that the original concept was simply to have a video-style game experience. Thankfully, the creative team decided that a fully playable character would provide a more engaging experience.
“It was something that could be viewed like a video,” said Ryosuke Horii.
This change demonstrates the studio’s commitment to enhancing fan interaction with beloved characters.
馃搱 Understanding Fan Engagement
Producer Hiroyuki Sakamoto emphasized the necessity of making Mine playable, noting that the character is consistently ranked among fans’ favorites. The development team viewed this opportunity as a fitting conclusion to the narrative of Kiwami 3.
Looking forward to more exciting gameplay ahead, Mine offers a very different character experience compared to Kiryu and Majima, as he is described as an unpredictable figure with a complex moral compass.
