In urban settings, many see foxes merely as troublesome critters that rummage through garbage. However, Raev: Kingdom on the Distant Shores invites players to reconsider that narrative. This upcoming strategy game mimics the 4X gameplay of Civilization, allowing you to steer anthropomorphic foxes, termed Raeven, in a community-focused adventure filled with choices about warfare and diplomacy.
The game was recently showcased during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, presenting vibrant new characters and enhanced combat mechanics alongside city-building features.
The standout aspect of Raev is its freeform construction system which breaks traditional grid constraints. With a design philosophy akin to Manor Lords, players can strategically place buildings and roads anywhere, fostering uniquely organic settlements.
As you expand your territory, expect to encounter rival factions. Train your troops within the sanctuary of your city and dispatch them to scout and claim fresh lands.
When battles occur, animated units engage in combat, featuring archers, pikemen, and armored figures equipped with swords and shields, as well as swift soldiers with lighter gear. The player’s choices drive the narrative — will you dominate through brute force or champion peace?
Looking ahead, Raev: Kingdom on the Distant Shores is slated for release next year and can be wishlisted now on Steam.
