A couple of weeks ahead of the early access launch for 2XKO, the director has issued a caution to players regarding potential imperfections in the game. This warning stems not from a belief that the game is flawed, but rather from the developer’s desire to experiment as they venture into this new genre. Although the initial experience may be rocky, players can expect that any initial issues will be addressed and refined over time.
In an interview with Edge Magazine, Shaun Rivera, the director of 2XKO, shared insights on his enthusiasm and anxiety about the game’s prospects, saying: “We’re the type of team where we want to try stuff. Sometimes it’s going to land and sometimes it’s going to whiff, but we will be trying things. I want to set those expectations for players that something we try might go wrong or it might not be good, but we’ll address it.”
Rivera further mentioned that the process could have its challenges during the early access phase, emphasizing the novelty of their undertaking: “I do want to call out, though, that we’re a team of people making a fighting game for the first time in a sense, and we don’t have older fighting-game animations to reuse or things like that.”
Despite criticisms around its limited playable character roster, enthusiasm remains high as players look forward to new champions being developed. With its release, 2XKO will be accessible for free on October 7, featuring solo and duo modes as well as ranked matches.
