A new patch for Civilization 7 aims to address “some player feedback” from the advanced access release of the game, promising “larger, more substantive updates” in the future.
Although not fully launched until February 11, the game has received mixed reception since its early access on February 6. Initial negative reviews highlighted issues with the user interface, but recent updates are being rolled out to resolve these concerns.
Today’s update fixes multiple interface problems along with various bugs and gameplay issues. Notably, it also suspends crossplay between PC and consoles for multiplayer - a move intended to expedite updates for PC users. Developers have the ability to release updates for PC immediately, unlike console updates which must pass certification processes, causing delays.
The response to the patch has generally been positive, with players appreciating Firaxis’s commitment to ongoing support for Civilization 7, one of Take-Two’s flagship game series. Despite the rocky start and persistent UI complaints, the developers aim to enhance the gaming experience significantly.
