Discord Introduces Ignore Feature to Enhance User Experience
Discord rolls out an Ignore feature that allows users to mute specific individuals without their knowledge, ensuring a more peaceful environment.
Discord has finally introduced an Ignore feature that allows users to mute specific individuals without them being aware. This new functionality aims to improve the user experience on the platform by giving users greater control over their interactions.
“With Ignore, you can take space from specific people without them knowing, so you can stay focused on the fun,” Discord explained in a blog post detailing the rollout of this feature as part of Safer Internet Day 2025. “You can take some time away or choose a more discreet approach to maintain your peace of mind.”
The feature is a response to the challenges many users face while engaging in multiple Discord servers where some individuals’ vibes can be grating. Previously, blocking users felt like an extreme measure; however, this new option provides a middle ground, allowing users to keep their interactions positive.
Once activated, the Ignore feature will hide any messages and notifications from muted users in shared servers. Users will still have the option to view specific messages if desired.
Moreover, alongside the new feature, Discord has announced the creation of a non-profit foundation named ROOST (Robust Open Online Safety Tools) aimed at enhancing child safety and digital security with the help of organizations like OpenAI and Google. Now, you can start ignoring people on Discord as needed.
