First DLC Vault Hunter C4SH Unveiled for Borderlands 4

Gearbox Software announces C4SH as the inaugural DLC character for Borderlands 4, set to launch early next year.

Gearbox Software has officially introduced C4SH, the first DLC Vault Hunter coming to Borderlands 4 early next year. The first new entry in the series in six years has plenty to offer players right out the gate, but Gearbox already has more in store for Borderlands 4 players in the near future, including expansions to the character roster.

In classic Borderlands fashion, there are four unique characters to choose from in Borderlands 4’s base game, each with their own unique skills and playstyles. The current selection of Vault Hunter characters has proven to be a hit with fans for their versatility and build potential, but Gearbox isn’t stopping there, as the studio has confirmed that two more playable characters will be added as paid DLC throughout 2026.

Borderlands 4 Shows Off New Vault Hunter C4SH

As teased earlier this week, Gearbox lifted the veil off Borderlands 4’s first DLC character at the Tokyo Game Show. Set to arrive in Q1 2026, C4SH is a robot that previously worked as a casino dealer before transitioning to become a Vault Hunter, which is reflected in the dice and playing cards included in his kit. According to Randy Pitchford, C4SH will have powers based on random chance, although the exact gameplay mechanics are still under wraps. Additionally, fans are eager to learn when information regarding Borderlands 4’s second DLC character will be made available.

C4SH will be accessible to players who own Borderlands 4’s Super Deluxe Edition or Vault Hunter Pack. He will also be part of the game’s first Story Pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. Set in a new region of Kairos, this pack will offer players new campaign missions and side quests, alongside new gear and cosmetics to earn. With the launches of both C4SH and Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned set for Q1 2026, fans hope to receive more detailed updates soon.

It’s worth highlighting that players won’t be left waiting for new content until then. According to the game’s post-launch roadmap, Borderlands 4 is set to receive a wealth of additional content throughout the last quarter of 2025. This will include the first of four paid Bounty Pack DLCs containing new missions, bosses, and more, plus free content such as a seasonal event called Horrors of Kairos, new legendary weaponry, cosmetics, and an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter mode level.
