A Survey Reveals That Over Half of Japanese Game Developers Are Incorporating AI
Recent findings indicate that more than 50% of Japanese video game companies, such as Level-5 and Capcom, are utilizing AI in their development processes.
A recent survey conducted by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) during June and July reveals that 51% of Japanese gaming companies are now incorporating AI into their workflows. This survey, which involved responses from CESA member companies including well-known brands like Capcom and Level-5, indicates a significant shift towards the integration of AI in game development.
Firms reported using AI for a variety of functions, such as generating visual assets, creating story elements, and assisting with programming. Additionally, around 32% of the surveyed companies are utilizing AI in the development of proprietary game engines.
A notable highlight from the survey is the proactive approach some companies are taking, with both Level-5 and Capcom reportedly using AI for tasks ranging from character creation to code assistance.
The findings underline a growing acceptance of AI within the industry, even as discussions about its implications continue.
