Jobs are out. Crises are in.
FBC: Firebreak was released back in June but didn’t meet expectations. Its cooperative gameplay offered potential, but players found it repetitive and lacking fundamental features, which is underscored in a detailed review.
The upcoming Breakpoint update aims to transform the gaming experience. This major update includes a reworked mission selection process, moving from a Jobs board to a Crises board that provides a refreshed selection of missions every 30 minutes.
Additionally, the new update features an alternative job called Outbreak, where players must contain a mold epidemic, introducing new enemies such as Mold Turrets and Mold Walkers who can infect others.
Moreover, Remedy seeks to enhance the onboarding experience for new players by adding an Orientation level and overview videos for each job.
Overall, this update is designed to lay a stronger foundation for future enhancements, with the next major patch planned for November. The success of these changes is crucial, especially given Remedy’s concerns regarding FBC: Firebreak’s sales and player engagement.
