Supergiant Games Discusses Future of Hades Series
A Supergiant Games director shares insights into the potential fourth installment of the Hades series, hinting that its development is not guaranteed.
Hades 3 is still uncertain, according to a senior official at Supergiant Games. This comment surfaced just as the 1.0 version of Hades 2 was released to widespread acclaim and impressive sales momentum.
As Supergiant Games, led by Studio Director Amir Rao, moves forward, they emphasize a process where future projects remain under discussion only after one is completed. Rao stated, “It’s not preordained; we don’t know the next title or anything like that.”
Regarding game development, Supergiant adheres to an iterative process, where community feedback plays a role in shaping their projects. For instance, they previously adjusted their game’s protagonist based on early feedback.
Rao’s recent statements suggest that plans for Hades 3 are not yet in motion, considering that Hades 2 is now fully released. Nonetheless, the studio will likely contemplate its next endeavor soon.
Despite the future being uncertain, Hades 2 is currently thriving. Following its 1.0 launch, player counts surged to unprecedented levels on Steam, indicating a strong start. Alinea Analytics reports Hades 2 has already shifted 2 million copies during its early access phase, outperforming its predecessor significantly.
