Confession time: I haven’t played Silksong yet. This is not because I’m afraid of its many difficult bosses, but because I stand by my principles. The devs at Team Cherry removed Hornet’s iconic phrase from the game.

In the original Hollow Knight, during boss fights, Hornet would deliver lines such as “Shaw!”, “Haa!”, and others. In her new role as the protagonist in Silksong, her character is much quieter.

However, a dedicated modder named Nai has stepped in to rectify this by creating the HK Hornet Voice Restored mod, which brings back these beloved lines. Now, players can enjoy the battle accompanied by familiar exclamations.

While I appreciate the effort, I wonder if Team Cherry had their reasons for cutting her voice. It’s an interesting case of wanting something only to realize the implications of that desire. I’m also a bit concerned about the potential annoyance of having a voice line for each attack, especially in a game with rapid combat action.

Regardless, the mod is easy to install for anyone interested. Simply download the necessary file, place it in the appropriate game directory, and you can once again hear Hornet’s chatter while playing.
