Final Adjustments on Battlefield 6's New Map for Portal Mode

Developers reveal an upcoming blank slate map for Battlefield 6's Portal mode as they finalize its features.

Battlefield 6’s Portal mode will not initially feature a completely blank canvas for players to create whatever they desire; however, the developers have confirmed that it will be available later on. The focus now is on refining the features surrounding this mode.

The Portal mode, praised for enabling custom player-run servers with unique rules and map settings, was particularly highlighted in Battlefield 2042. The current team has shown a commitment to enhancing these features in Battlefield 6.

Key Highlights of the Upcoming Portal Map:

  1. The server in Battlefield 6’s Portal mode will not vanish once players leave, maintaining its listing in the server browser as if it were a proper rental.
  2. Enhancements in map and logic editing tools significantly expand what players can create.

In a conversation with principal game designer Greg Black, PC Gamer’s Morgan Park discussed potential future updates to Portal. Black stated, “We are planning on releasing our first ‘blank slate’ map specifically for Portal sometime after release, but we are still putting the final touches on it. You’d be surprised how much work goes into a ‘blank’ map!”

This new addition should ignite players’ creativity in building their gaming experiences.
