Aniimo: New Creatures Unveiled in Upcoming Pokemon-Like Game

Pawprint Studio has unveiled new creatures for their upcoming open-world RPG, Aniimo, during the Tokyo Game Show.

During the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, Pawprint Studio introduced a range of new creatures in their eagerly awaited open-world action RPG, Aniimo. The game, which had previously drawn comparisons to Pokemon and Palworld, aims to carve out its own niche with distinct features appealing to fans of both franchises.

Aniimo was first officially showcased during the Xbox Games Showcase in June, presenting a creature-catching adventure set in the world of Idyll. Notable differences include hyper-realistic graphics that immerse players more deeply and a unique mechanic called ’twining’, where players can connect with Aniimo, allowing them to experience the game from a creature’s perspective, engage in battles, and use each creature’s unique abilities.

More Unique Creatures Revealed

Some creatures were initially revealed at the announcement and further unveiled during a closed beta test in June. At the Xbox Tokyo Game Show event, which went live on September 25, the studio showcased even more Aniimo. One new addition is Stellaris, evolving from Celestis, which has a special ‘Rainy Form’ that appears when it evolves on a rainy day.

The trailer also spotlighted interactions between a flying Helgon and several Helmuts, revealing the potential for evolution into Rookguard and a form known as Pawney from an Infregon. Another intriguing creature displayed is a new version of Ignitis, an electrical white mantis, set to make an appearance in the next beta test. Additional new forms, including the Snowfield Forms of Skippy, Pranky, and Glacy, will emerge in snowy environments.

While an official release date for Aniimo is yet to be disclosed, pre-registrations are currently open, with a launch anticipated in 2026. The game will be available across Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, and mobile platforms. Although Aniimo seems inspired by Palworld and Pokemon, Pawprint Studio is taking deliberate steps to distinguish their game from these influences, utilizing feedback from beta tests to enhance the player experience.
