Rumored Collaboration Between Call of Duty and Resident Evil for Season 6

A leak suggests that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 may feature a collaboration with Resident Evil in its upcoming season.

Activision may have recently changed its stance on allowing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 players to transfer content into the next game in the series, yet rumors indicate one last collaboration for the game’s final season is in the works. A recent leak from a credible data miner points to a major crossover with Capcom’s legendary horror series, Resident Evil, for the upcoming Season 6.

Collaborations, microtransactions, and unrealistic cosmetics have stirred heated discussions in the Call of Duty community lately. Many players appear to be growing weary of the ‘Fortnite-ification’ of the franchise, while some critics claim Activision’s decision regarding the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 carry-forward feature is “anti-consumer.” While certain items like Double XP tokens will still be transferable, cosmetics acquired or purchased will remain exclusive to Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone.

Call of Duty x Resident Evil Rumor for Season 6

Since its launch in 2024, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has collaborated with well-known franchises such as Squid Game, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and The Terminator. These numerous collaborations have split the community, prompting Activision to pledge that Black Ops 7 would return to the series’ roots. However, evidence suggests there may be one final collaboration slated for Black Ops 6’s last season. According to data miner COD Warfare, the anticipated Haunting of Verdansk event for Season 6 is rumored to involve a crossover with Resident Evil.

In a follow-up post, the leaker hinted that the returning Haunting of Verdansk event would include two new operator skins based on characters from Resident Evil: Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong. As of now, these claims remain unverified by Activision or Treyarch and should be treated with skepticism. Should this rumor prove to be accurate, fans may need to acquire these skins through a new Event Pass or through a subsequent store bundle.

Given the controversies that have surrounded Black Ops 6’s lifecycle, Activision and Treyarch have acknowledged community feedback and expressed the importance of striking a better balance that emphasizes the core Call of Duty experience. Consequently, the carry-forward feature was eliminated, and Treyarch has even declined significant collaborations for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Thus, if the rumored Resident Evil collaboration for Black Ops 6’s Season 6 comes to fruition, it is important to note that players will be unable to transfer such cosmetic items to this year’s entry.
