Painkiller Set to Arrive This October with a New Co-Op Roguelike Mode

The upcoming Painkiller game features a new co-op roguelike mode, but reactions to its new trailer are mixed.

After years of subpar sequels, the upcoming Painkiller game has fans cautiously optimistic. A new trailer for the co-op roguelike mode “Rogue Angel” has been released, though reactions have been lukewarm.

In this new gameplay mode, players team up to face off against demons in procedurally generated arenas within a uniquely twisted purgatory. The developers promise adaptive challenges that make each session fresh and engaging.

The trailer, however, has drawn criticism. Some viewers noted lines that detracted from the gritty atmosphere of the original game. Comments on YouTube echoed sentiments like:

“They Borderlandsed Painkiller for Gen Z.” “This isn’t killing my pain; it’s increasing it.”

Despite these concerns, many fans still hold onto hope, eager to see how the main campaign unfolds when Painkiller launches on October 21. It’s now available for pre-order on Steam.
