Tracer has officially returned to Overwatch 2 Stadium after experiencing a temporary removal due to game-breaking issues. Players can once again select this iconic damage hero within the chaotic Stadium game mode.
During the mid-Season 18 update from Blizzard, Tracer was added to Stadium, initially intended to debut alongside a new support hero named Wuyang. However, the decision was made to delay this character’s introduction to allow for more iconic heroes like Tracer to be included.
Tracer’s Return to Stadium
Upon her first arrival, Tracer caused significant issues. Just days after being added, a major glitch was found that forced Blizzard to disable her in Stadium on September 18. The problem was fixed a week later, and according to a tweet by Aaron Keller, the game director, Tracer was successfully reintroduced late on September 22.
The glitch provided a humorous yet frustrating challenge. Tracer’s Recall ability let her revert to her prior position and health from three seconds earlier. However, in Stadium, this did not account for health alterations made by purchasing or selling items, allowing players to stack health and inventory rapidly.
There’s much to anticipate as Overwatch 2 plans to add more characters in the upcoming Season 19, scheduled for October 14. While the exact roster is unconfirmed, heroes like Sojourn and Torbjorn have been speculated.
Meanwhile, players have plenty of reasons to join Overwatch 2 now. Events like Play Like Luka and the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 crossover are ongoing, enhancing player engagement as Tracer resumes her roles in battles in Stadium.
