Sucker Punch Confirms Termination of Artist Over Charlie Kirk Shooting Joke: 'Making Light of Someone's Murder is Unacceptable'
Sucker Punch studio leader Brian Fleming addressed the firing of artist Drew Harrison, following her controversial comment about the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Sucker Punch has confirmed that it fired artist Drew Harrison after she made a joke about the shooting of far-right activist Charlie Kirk. Harrison’s comment referenced the assassin’s name in a manner deemed inappropriate by the studio. Brian Fleming, studio head, stated that the company’s values do not align with celebrating or making light of such tragedies.
Harrison’s joke quickly sparked backlash, leading to her dismissal less than 24 hours later. Amidst the uproar, various right-wing figures, including Elon Musk, criticized the studio for their actions. Fleming specified in an interview that the studio stands by its decision, affirming that any light-heartedness towards murder is a deal-breaker.
In follow-up comments, Harrison expressed her support for Sucker Punch despite the incident, emphasizing that she would repeat her stance against fascism, even at the cost of her job.
