Are you excited about Grand Theft Auto 6? Most likely, yes. Rockstar has already termed it the “largest game launch in history” even before its release next year. However, there are exceptions, like Steven Ogg, known for his role as Trevor Philips in GTA 5.
In a short interview with YouTuber HarrisonShippp, Ogg was asked about his excitement level for GTA 6’s imminent release. “I feel nothing inside,” he remarked, making it clear he wasn’t just throwing a casual remark. “I’m not a gamer. I’ve never played a video game, so I feel absolutely nothing.”
This straightforward admission brings into light that for some voice actors, their roles are just jobs rather than personal passions. While players deeply embody their characters, some, like Ogg, maintain clear boundaries, preferring to engage in literary pursuits over gaming.
Ogg went on to quip that a better suggestion would be reading Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “Crime and Punishment” as opposed to playing games like GTA. He seemed to emphasize that for him, literature holds a more significant value than video games.
“Do you know Dostoevsky? Fyodor Dostoevsky?” Ogg asked his interviewer, who admitted he did not.
Ogg’s playful reference serves to parallel the suggestions regarding games and literature, suggesting that if someone is left cold about gaming, perhaps diving into the world of literature might be more illuminating.
