Tyler ‘Ninja’ Blevins shared in a recent interview that the past couple of years have been challenging due to online trolls focused on his declining viewer numbers.
Having initially surged to fame as Fortnite became a cultural phenomenon thanks to collaborations with celebrities like Drake, Ninja’s current viewership averages around 7,000, significantly down from his peak. He said,
“I think I’m the only streamer on the planet who was pulling 100,000 viewers [per stream] consistently, but now I get like seven or eight thousand across Twitch and YouTube…”
Despite these challenges, Ninja emphasizes the importance of his community. He noted,
“It’s not nice for anyone to get a load of abuse ’literally every day’ when they’re just doing their thing.”
Ninja is currently conducting a 24-hour charity stream focused on skin cancer awareness, as he himself underwent mole removals last year due to cancerous growths. He encourages viewers to be proactive about their health, especially regarding skin checks.
Last year, the stream raised a substantial amount for skin cancer detection and prevention, and Ninja is determined to continue his efforts for this vital cause.
