Hey! Remember XXX Nightshift? It was one of the five Disco Elysium successor games that grabbed attention last year. Originally envisioned as an isometric title, it featured a cop facing murders in a luxurious Antarctic ski resort with dialogues reminiscent of Disco Elysium.
Now, in a surprising twist, the developers at Dark Math Games announced a pivot in the design. The game is no longer an isometric experience; it has been transformed into a third-person RPG and has a new name: Tangerine Antarctic.
As the studio explains:
“Set at the World’s End ski village at Mount Hope, British Antarctica, Tangerine Antarctic is the name of the in-game hotel, designed by renowned Estonian architect Kaur Stőőr, where most of the game’s action takes place. This is where you are stuck due to a blizzard and must unravel the sinister murders.”
While some may question the choice of perspective or the new title—perhaps feeling it still reflects Disco Elysium influences—only time will tell if this game finds its own unique identity. Until then, the visual aesthetics are already captivating, and anticipation for further details builds.
