A hardcore Souls player, Ongbal, known for exceptional runs, recently demonstrated a solo completion of Elden Ring Nightreign’s hardest difficulty, ‘Depth Five’. In his video, Ongbal cautioned that while he achieved this challenging feat, he found it less enjoyable than lower difficulties.
Background
Depth Five was introduced in Nightreign’s Deep of Night update, which allows players to progressively navigate through various depths, introducing tougher enemies and new weapon effects. While highs in challenge come with new mechanics to enhance gameplay, Ongbal reported a lack of memorable drops or exciting moments in his run.
Ongbal’s Run
In his solo effort, Ongbal utilized character Wylder, who boasts high mobility and potential. However, he felt that the experience was overall lackluster, lacking the thrill of earlier runs where unexpected challenges arose.
He noted:
“I grinded up to depth five this past week, and well… honestly it’s not enjoyable at higher depths.”
This feedback suggests that the fun in Elden Ring might come more from engaging with the game’s economy and cooperative aspects rather than pushing through the highest difficulties solo.
